Pregnant Women Getting UTI Meds Linked to Defects

The antibiotics — trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim) and nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) — have been linked to a small risk for birth defects in pregnant women when given in the first trimester.
